U.S. EPA's mosquito control site: http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/factsheets/skeeters.htm.

Information about pesticide and nonpesticide controls is provided here to address the concerns of the general public, the news media, and state and local agencies dealing with outbreaks of infectious diseases or heavy infestations of mosquitoes. Documents accessible from this site provide basic information on mosquito control, safety precautions, and the insecticides used for mosquito control programs.

In addition, a joint U.S. EPA/CDC statement discusses approaches the public and local governments can take to minimize the necessity for widespread pesticide spraying or larviciding. There also is a discussion of various larvicides and the levels of hazard associated (or not associated) with them, both for human health and for wildlife.
