U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE: NOVUS WINDSHIELD REPAIR CO. OPERATORS CONVICTED OF FAILURE TO FILE INCOME TAXES

 SEATTLE, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Attorney Mike McKay for the Western District of Washington and Thomas Brown, Internal Revenue Service, announced today that William A. Batley and Jane E. Batley, owners and operators of several Novus Windshield Repair Co. franchises in the state of Washington and Oregon, were each convicted in U.S. District Court of seven counts of wilfully failing to file their Federal Income Tax Returns from 1985 through 1991, inclusive. The jury returned its guilty verdicts in the early evening of Friday, Dec. 18. The Batleys earned a combined gross income, before expenses, of approximately $11,533,577 in these years.
 The Batleys each face a maximum sentence of seven years imprisonment and $700,000 in fines, plus the costs of prosecution. Sentencing has been set for March 1, 1993.
 Special agents of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service in Seattle investigated this case.
