U.S. Consul General Opens American Studies Resource Center at An-Najah University.
The inauguration of the American Studies Resource Center, located in the "Old Library" on the An-Najah University campus, is the culmination of months of cooperation between the Consulate General and An-Najah University. With the help of grants from the Consulate General during the past year, the university hosted an American Studies academic conference and established an American Studies Resource Center with approximately 350 books related to American history, politics, culture, and literature, as well as English language resources. The university also purchased computers and other information technology for use by visitors to the center.
In his remarks at the opening reception, Consul General Rubinstein thanked President Hamdallah, the faculty, staff, and students at An-Najah University for their interest in American Studies and their efforts to establish the center. He emphasized the Consulate General's commitment to encouraging mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and Palestinians, and expressed hope that, "through these shared efforts, American Studies at An-Najah University will have a platform on which to grow and a place in Palestinian higher education that can allow for an increased professional and academic interest in American history, politics, and culture."
