WASHINGTON, Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following is the daily "Profile America" feature from the U.S. Census Bureau:



Profile America - Thursday, November 3rd. This is National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month, with a wide variety of events planned across the country. It's estimated that there are 5 million American Indians and Alaska Natives in the U.S., 1.6 percent of the total population. California is home to the highest number of these Americans, at nearly 740,000, followed by Oklahoma at over 415,000. Los Angeles County leads all of the nation's counties with the number of people in this racial category.
