U.S. BANK OF IDAHO CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING IN BOISE AND STATEWIDE EXPANSION

 BOISE, Idaho, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Bank of Idaho is celebrating the grand opening of its first branch in Boise. The celebration began Feb. 27, and will run through March 6, at the banks' new branch office location in the Hoff Building at 8th and Bannock. The bank, which entered Idaho last year with an office in Coeur d'Alene, plans to open eight more branches in the state and hire 60 to 80 people by the end of 1993.
 "U.S. Bancorp is based in the Northwest, so we have a strong commitment to the residents and businesses in the region," said U.S. Bancorp (NASDAQ-NMS: USBC) Chairman Roger Breezley. "Our community bank structure and focus on local decision-making offer the people of Idaho not only a home-town bank, but one which provides state-of-the-art financial services and banking conveniences to its consumer and commercial customers."
 U.S. Bank of Idaho President David Howry added, "To help ensure we serve Idahoans well, we will be hiring experienced Idaho bankers who have developed a keen knowledge of business and community needs here in Idaho."
 The bank is offering a charter membership, which includes special discounts and rates on its services for both consumer and business customers of the bank. Every customer will also receive access to the bank's 24-hour, seven-day-a-week toll-free customer service line and have free unlimited use of more than 200 automatic teller machines in Idaho and more than 1,000 ATMs in five Western states when they open a UBANK checking account.
 Howry said, as one of the top small business lenders in the West, U.S. Bank plans to actively serve the small business community in Idaho. This support includes working closely with the Small Business Administration. Included in this focus will be agricultural lending with a variety of banking services for Idaho's farmers. U.S. Bancorp is one of the top ten agricultural lenders in the nation.
 In addition to its new office in Boise and a branch currently moving to a new site with expanded quarters in Coeur d'Alene, U.S. Bank has six mortgage loan offices located throughout the state through its affiliate, U.S. Bancorp Mortgage Co. The bank has provided residential mortgage and commercial lending support to Idaho residents and businesses for several years. Other services offered by U.S. Bank of Idaho include an auto dealer center, an investment department, insurance services and international banking support.
