U.S. ARMY EXERCISES CONTRACT OPTION FOR LOGICON
TO SUPPORT SENIOR LEVEL ARMY TRAINING
LOS ANGELES, March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Logicon Inc. (NYSE: LGN) announced today that the U.S. Army has exercised a contract option with the company to support the Army's high-level command and control training exercises. The option, the second of four one-year options, is valued at $10 million, bringing the contract value to date to $24 million. The potential value is $48.3 million.
The company's Logicon RDA and Logicon Technical Services Inc. (LTSI) subsidiaries are providing technical support for the Army's computer-based Battle Command Training Program (BCTP) with headquarters at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
Logicon will modify software and provide engineering and other technical support for a series of major battle simulations conducted worldwide, but controlled from Fort Leavenworth.
These high-technology war games are simulated through the Corps Battle Simulation (CBS), an automated command post exercise driver developed with Logicon support at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.
CBS units are installed at four active U.S. Army Corps headquarters and at the Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth. These around-the-clock intensive battle simulations give officers comprehensive command and staff experience without actually deploying troops or equipment -- resulting in a tremendous savings of resources, time and money.
Logicon is a leader in providing advanced technology systems and services to support national security, civil and industrial needs.
