U.S., CANADA CAR AND LIGHT-TRUCK PRODUCTION 11.0 PERCENT AHEAD OF 1991
 DETROIT, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. and Canada automakers have assembled 2,217,509 vehicles so far this year, 11.0 percent ahead of the 1,998,587 produced one year ago, according to the trade paper Automotive News.
 This week's estimated U.S. and Canada car production is 127,500, down 0.4 percent from the prior week and up 1.2 percent over the year- ago week.
 So far this year, 1,259,124 cars have been assembled in the United States and Canada, 2.4 percent below 1991.
 U.S. and Canada truck production is scheduled at 104,128, up 6.0 percent from the prior week and up 90.9 percent over the year-ago week.
 Year to date, U.S. and Canada truck production is 958,385, up 35.3 percent from the same period one year ago.
 U.S. estimated car production for this week is shared as follows: General Motors, 41.4 percent; Ford Motor Co., 22.5 percent; Chrysler Corp., 12.1 percent; Honda of America Manufacturing Inc., 8.9 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 4.2 percent; New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., 3.8 percent; Diamond-Star Motors, 3.0 percent; Nissan Motor Manufacturing Inc., 2.4 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc., 1.1 percent; and Mazda Motor Manufacturing (USA), 0.6 percent.
