U.S HOMECARE ANNUAL ANNOUNCES THE FIRST ANNUAL 'PHOTOS IN HOME CARE' PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

HARTSDALE, N.Y., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. HomeCare, the leading provider of home health care services nationwide, today called for entries in the debut of its annual "Photos In Home Care" competition.
Photography enthusiasts, as well as people involved with home care in any way, are encouraged to submit photos that best capture the beauty of the caring spirit in scenes that reflect the dignity and compassion of the caregiver/patient relationship. U.S. HomeCare has launched the competition to promote greater understanding of the importance of home care. "In the face of rising medical costs, lowered hospital stays, and increasing outpatient procedures, quality home care is emerging as a crucial component of health care today," explained W. Edward Massey, president and chief executive officer. "We want to not only increase everyone's awareness of what home care is, but also to explain the important role home care provides in caring for people in many different situations and circumstances."
Entries for the "Photos In Home Care" competition will be judged on how well the photograph captures the contest's theme: sharing, caring scenes between patients, caregivers and families in a home setting. A panel of expert judges will also base their decision on overall compositional quality and originality of the scene depicted. The first prize winner will receive $1,500, second prize $500, third prize $250 and fourth prize $100, respectively. Eight honorable mentions will receive $50 each.
To be eligible, entrants must be over 21 years of age and must submit color or black and white prints up to 8" x 10" in size which have not been submitted to any other contest. U.S. HomeCare employees and their families are not eligible to compete. There is not entry fee, and competitors are requested to send photos to U.S. HomeCare, c/o "Photo In Home Care Competition," 141 S. Central Ave., Hartsdale, NY 10530. All photograph entries must be accompanied by the sender's name, address, and telephone number, the date and location of the photo, the names and addresses of the person(s) in the photograph, and a 30-word or less description of the scene and why it represents the concept of home care.
Entries must be postmarked by April 30, 1993 to be eligible. Winners will be announced and notified by mail in June 1993. For more information, including a complete list of rules and regulations, please call 914-946-9601.
