U.B. FOODS RECEIVES $500,000 IN STATE LOANS FOR NEW CHESTER COUNTY PLANT
HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Gov. Robert P. Casey today announced the approval of a $500,000 state loan to help U.B. Foods U.S. buy machinery and equipment for its new Chester County facility, creating 155 jobs within three years.
U.B. Foods U.S., the holding company for all U.S. food processing operations owned by British-based United Biscuits, plans to operate a food processing facility in Oxford to manufacture a newly developed snack food.
U.B. Foods is the second largest cookie and cracker manufacturer in the United States.
"U.B. Foods could have located anywhere in the United States, but the company chose Pennsylvania," Casey said. "The best companies in America are investing in Pennsylvania and its workers."
The $500,000 state loan is from the Department of Commerce's Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund. U.B. Foods will spend more than $30 million to fully equip its new facility, including $4.5 million for machinery.
U.B. Foods earlier received a $2 million loan from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority to help with acquisition and renovation of a 124,300-square-foot building along Old Baltimore Pike in Oxford.
