 U S WEST CELLULAR TEAMS WITH THE SEATTLE TIMES INFOLINE;
 TOUCH OF CELLULAR PHONE PROVIDES INFORMATION, NEWS HOTLINE
 SEATTLE, Dec. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by U S WEST Cellular:
 Information about stocks, weather, sports scores and many other topics literally is at the fingertips of U S WEST Cellular customers in western Washington now through a joint effort with The Seattle Times Infoline.
 The service is offered through Times Information Services Inc., a subsidiary of The Seattle Times. The Seattle Times InfoLine allows U S WEST Cellular customers instant access to up-to-the-minute information merely by pushing the pound sign key, then I-N-F-O on their cellular phones.
 "We are proud to partner with The Seattle Times InfoLine in providing our customers the first of many information services," said Joe Dodson, vice president of marketing for U S WEST Cellular. Dodson said the project is just the first step in responding to the demands of cellular customers for information at their fingertips.
 An important fact about the new service is that there are no additional charges for calls made by U S WEST Cellular customers to The Seattle Times Infoline. Calls will be airtime free through Jan. 31, and thereafter normal airtime charges will apply.
 "We are glad that U S WEST Cellular is providing a quick and easy way for their customers to use our service and experience the benefits of up-to-the-minute information through The Seattle Times Infoline," said Jack Williams, executive vice president, The Seattle Times.
 After dialing the pound sign key, then I-N-F-O, callers have access to a "menu" of selections including weather, ski conditions, news and sports updates and a stock quote hotline. Entertainment selections also are included and a concert hotline and movie information.
 "Our inaugural partnership is with a first-class newspaper. We are proud of this alliance and look forward to a developing relationship with The Seattle Times," Dodson said.
 "We have always tried to give our customer's choices in the services they need. What they have been telling us is that they want information when and where they need it. Cellular provides part of that, information services provides the rest," said John DeFeo, president and chief executive officer of U S WEST NewVector Group (NASDAQ: USWNA).
 U S WEST Cellular is a division of U S WEST NewVector Group Inc. Headquartered in Bellevue, NewVector has operations in 15 midwestern, western and southwestern states.
