St Peter's Church, Central Avenue, North Shields, holds a Christmas Coffee Afternoon with Santa's Grotto and entertainment on December 13 at 2pm. Admission free.

Divine Theatre Company presents Utterly Nutterly, at Magnesia Bank, North Shields, on December 17, at 7.30pm. Admission pounds 4.

Resident living around Trinity Street, North Shields, are being encouraged to work with council staff and police to produce a blueprint for the development of their area.

THERE will be an abundance of flowers on Tynemouth Promenade next year thanks to pupils from King's School and Priory Primary School planting 1,000 bulbs in an event organised by Tynemouth Village Association.

THE programme of events at North Shields Victorian Christmas Market in Northumberland Square on December 13, is: 10am carol service, 10.45 official opening by the chair of North Tyneside Council, 11 Greggs Bakery Brass Band, noon Dunston Brass Band, 1pm Tynemouth Operatic Society, 2 Saltburn Victorian Society, 2.30 Five Rivers Brass Band. December 14, 11am Gosforth Contraband Brass Band, 1pm Hetton Youth Brass Band, 2.30 Whitley Bay Pantomime Society, 3 Tynemouth Operatic Society.

NORTH Shields based DFDS has been voted best ferry operator in the Daily Telegraph National Travel Awards. A record breaking 134,000 passengers used the Newcastle-Amsterdam route in July and August.

TYNEMOUTH'S Priory Singers have donated pounds 1,050, the proceeds from a recent Gilbert and Sullivan concert at King's School, to the North of England Children's Cancer Research Unit.

TO help reduce crime a CCTV camera is to be installed at the junction linking Coach Lane, Prudhoe Street and Waterville Road, North Shields.

RESIDENTS are campaigning to prevent 22 homes being built in Walker Place, North Shields.
