Two police officers attacked; NEWS WIRE.

TWO police officers were attacked in Warrington, in two unrelated incidents just hours apart.

One officer was assaulted at 1.12am on Sunday as he tried to break up a fight between two men, near the Mulberry Tree Hotel, in Grappenhall Road.

While the officers were dealing with one of the men, one of the officers was assaulted.

A 24-year-old man from Stockport has been charged with a public order offence and assaulting a police officer.

In a separate incident, a police constable was knocked to the floor while dealing with a gang of teenagers in Lymm, Warrington, on Saturday evening.

Neither of the officers were said to be seriously hurt.

Cheshire Police said they would step up patrols.
