Two of Mealey's new titles of interest to newsletter pros.

Volume 1, Number 2 of Mealey's Intellectual Property Pleadings reports that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is filing an amicus briefing supporting Legg Mason's appeal of the ruling that awarded newsletter publisher Lowry's Reports $19.7 million in a copyright infringement action (NL/NL 7/22/04).

The verdict was cheered by newsletter and specialized-information publishers because of the strong message it sent that willful copyright violations (which Legg Mason was found guilty of even after being warned) carry a heavy price.

Mealey's Privacy Report also covers many cases of interest to journalists, including numerous ones involving the Freedom of Information Act and the legal intricacies of electronic communication.
