Two new journals from Springer.
"Probiotics and Antimicrobial Proteins" publishes information aimed at advancing fundamental knowledge and exploration of the applications of probiotics, natural antimicrobial proteins and their derivatives in biomedical, agricultural, veterinary, food, and cosmetic products. It includes research results and articles on the application of those microorganisms and substances, as well as studies that correlate the structure and functional properties of antimicrobial proteins.
Editor-in-Chief D. Michael Chikindas said "clearly, there is a need for research and for a highly professional journal to report all new findings in the areas of probiotics and antimicrobial proteins, particularly those produced by probiotic organisms."
The journal "Food and Environmental Virology" publishes information and research related to the transmission of pathogenic viruses via the environment and foods. That includes epidemiological studies, identification of new and emerging pathogens, methods of analysis, studies on survival and elimination, and development of procedural controls for industrial processes, including HACCP plans, The title encompasses studies on human, animal, and plant pathogenic viruses that are capable of transmission via the environment and food.
It covers detection of viruses, routes of transmission, risk assessment, risk models, survival of viruses, transport of viruses through soils, procedural controls, and personal protective efforts.
