Two mums wrestle and strangle each other in shocking road rage brawl as distraught child begs them to stop; The disturbing incident was filmed by a gobsmacked bystander on Northampton's busy A5123 carriageway on Tuesday.

Two mothers were caught on camera brawling in the middle of a busy road as a distraught child begged them to stop.

Footage shows the furious women strangling and punching each other in front of shocked motorists duringthe bitter road-rage disputerecorded at around 3pm on Tuesday.

Traffic on the Northampton A5123 carriageway was forced to a halt as the pugnacious pair got out of their vehicles and began to wrestle in broad daylight.

The mums were left sprawled out on the floor as they dragged each other to the ground during their school run battle.

Witnesses claim the the row broke out after the brunette Audi driver accused her counterpart of cutting her up in traffic.

The blonde woman, who was driving a Jaguar, reportedly slammed on the brakes and approached the Audi driver before they traded angry insults.

After grappling each other to the floor, the brunette says that she's 'late' and walks back to her parked car but is forced to defend herself after she is followed by the blonde woman.

A child who was caught up in the melee attempted to break them up and pleads: "Mum, please come on let's go."

A bystander is seen crossing the road and attempts to intervene in the fracas as they continued to argue.

Cars beeped their horns as they were forced to wait behind them as they were held up traffic during the incident.

One witness told MailOnlinehe found the incident "shocking" and said he "could not believe what he saw."

"We were over the road when we could suddenly hear screaming and shouting. We went out to see what was going on and the two of them were fighting. The brunette woman was accusing the blonde one of cutting her up.

"The blonde one apparently slammed on her breaks and got out of the car, raising her voice.

"She pinned her up against the car and the next thing you know they were fighting. The blonde woman strangled her down to the floor.

"I couldn't believe what I was seeing, I was a bit shocked to be quite honest.

"One of the women's children was crying saying, 'please stop it mum'.

"People tried to intervene to get them to stop. A man nearby said he would sort it out."

The identities of the two women are not yet known.

Northamptonshire Police said they are aware of the video but they have not received a report over the incident.

The incident is the latest example of road rage caught on camera after two men fought each other

Footage shows how the two middle-aged men get out of their stationary cars and throw punches as stunned commuters look on.

The incident occurred on the London-bound section of the M25 on June 15 - a sweltering summer's day which saw the mercury reach 25C.

The road rage incident began after the man in the pink shirt allegedly cut off the other driver, according to the person who filmed the video.

The video shows the man in a black shirt landing a right hook before the man in pink counters with a swift left jab to the jaw.

The woman is head shouting: "Oh My God" as she sees the incident unfolding while the other passengers encourage the driver to beep at the to break up the sparring duo.

She continues: "Come on guys" before the man in the pink shirt fires a left jab at his opponent, prompting the man in the sunglasses to fly into a fit of rage.

The two then grapple for some time by the side of one of the black Range Rover as lorries speed past on the outside lane.

Another passenger shouts "F**king hell!" as the brawling men continue to wrestle in the middle of the road.

It is not clear if police were called to break up the incident.
