Two in 20ft hospital fall; ACCIDENTS.

TWO elderly patients were seriously injured falling 20ft on a hospital escalator.

Len Conway, 84, fractured his skull and Jack Faulkner, 86, was badly cut in separate incidents.

Mr Faulkner, who walks with a stick, was told by staff to use the escalator even though there is a lift.

He said: "It's stupid to have an escalator in a hospital." Mr Conway's daughter Carole said: "Dad is shattered." Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has now slowed the escalator and put up signs for the lift..
