Two engineering firms combine forces.

Murraysmith, one of Portland's largest engineering firms, announced this month it is merging with Rancho Cordova, California-based Quincy Engineering, expanding a range of influence along the West Coast and into Colorado.

The two companies have each specialized in infrastructure projects involving water, bridge design, transportation systems and construction management. They will operate under their original names while sharing resources, knowledge and clients. More than 300 people in 17 different offices are now united under the same umbrella.

Murraysmith CEO and President Chris Rayasam, who joined the firm in 2016, will retain leadership.

"By combining our firms, we bring together complementary expertise, shared values and an ongoing commitment to taking care of our people and our clients," Rayasam stated in a press release. "We will continue to hire the best people and provide them with an exceptional work environment where they can thrive and build their careers."

John Quincy, who founded his eponymous firm in 1992 and has since led it, has moved into a vice president role. He will oversee all bridge and transportation projects.

"Having collaborated on several projects over the last decade, we've witnessed how closely our core values are aligned, so merging our practices is easy and will enable us to pursue larger and more complex projects throughout the West," Quincy stated in a press release. "We are truly excited about the professional growth opportunities this provides for our staff, and we look forward to continuing to provide the personal attention that clients have come to expect from both firms."
