Two die in fireball jet smash.

TWO people died yesterday when their private jet plunged into a cornfield in a ball of flame.

The 43-year-old pilot and his passenger were killed instantly when the single-engined Jet Provost, a former RAF training plane, crashed in a field near Woolaston, Gloucestershire, minutes after take-off.

Air accident investigators were examining the wreckage yesterday .

Last night, police superintendent Philip Sullivan said: "We don't know why this plane crashed but we are very grateful it landed where it did.

"Pilots who are trained will know everything they can do to avoid or minimise damage."
