Summary: Two people were killed and more than 20 injured Thursday when a hot water tank exploded at a sweets factory in the southern district of Nabatieh.

NABATIEH, Lebanon: Two people were killed and more than 20 injured Thursday when a hot water tank exploded at a sweets factory in the southern district of Nabatieh. The blast, which occurred at the Habib Waked Maatouk Sweets factory in the town of Sir Gharbieh, caused a fire that spread throughout the premises and also damaged nearby shops and vehicles but was subsequently extinguished. Civil Defense and Red Cross vehicles took the injured to local hospitals for treatment. The two deceased reportedly died in the fire that followed the explosion.
