Turtle Mountain offers gluten-free cookie dough ice cream.
Turtle Mountain reports it has created "the first-ever dairy-free and gluten-free" cookie dough ice cream. Certified vegan and made with organic ingredients, the new flavor gives consumers with gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance or allergies a worry-free way to enjoy this highly popular flavor. The Eugene, OR-based company notes that its resident food scientist Jennifer Aleshire began searching for a gluten-free, vegan cookie dough recipe last year. It claims that she found "few options and none met her standards of premium taste and all-natural ingredients."
But long-time fan of the brand came through with the answer. Oregon native Marcia Pollard offered the company an exclusive recipe for an all-natural, gluten-free cookie dough that she had developed to meet the needs of her own family, specifically her three children who all suffer from food allergies.
"This is first ever dairy-free and gluten-free cookie dough ice cream and we're pleased to offer this to children and adults who suffer from food allergies or families who are simply searching for more healthful desserts," said John Tucker, Turtle Mountain's Vice President. "Marcia's story is inspiring and we're thrilled to highlight her ingenuity and dedication to both her children and to Turtle Mountain foods."
Purely Decadent Dairy Free Cookie Dough ice cream has a suggested retail price of $3.49. It joins the company's other dairy-free indulgent ice cream and frozen desserts in distribution nationwide at select grocery and natural foods stores. All Turtle Mountain products are 100% plant-based and contain zero cholesterol, no artificial sweeteners, no trans fats, no hydrogenated oils and most are made with certified organic ingredients.
