Turn your pounds 50 into thousands.

THIS week marks the return of the Ty Gobaith Corporate Challenge.

With the support of HSBC, the initiative has raised more than pounds 150,000 for the Conwy Valley hospice in previous years.

And as in 2008 and 2009, the 2010 challenge will see the charity receive an initial pounds 5,000 from HSBC to kick-start the campaign.

The money will be divided into pounds 50 sums for up to 100 local businesses and other organisations.

Participants will be asked to use their pounds 50 to raise as much as they can towards hospice running costs.

A presentation evening will see the pounds 50 "start-up funding" handed over and the challenge itself will run until the end of November.

Sarah Kearsley-Wooller, Ty Gobaith fundraising manager, said: "Last year we were overwhelmed by the entrepreneurial skills of more than 60 companies who transformed HSBC's original pounds 5,000 into more than pounds 72,000.

"It was a truly remarkable result which will go a long way to funding three nurses providing specialist care at the hospice.

"This year's challenge will help Ty Gobaith with its dream - to continue being a lifeline to terminally-ill children and their families, helping them take the best way down the hardest path."

She added: "This challenge also provides an opportunity for networking and building team spirit.

"Fundraising ideas can be as simple or as complex as participants want - they might involve a day-long event, a one-off raffle or a series of money spinning activities."

HSBC's Area Commercial Director Nigel Kay said the company is thrilled to once again be involved in supporting the appeal.

He told Business Post: "The pounds 10,000 funding provided by HSBC to kick start the previous two challenges has grown beyond our expectations. "In this third year supporting Ty Gobaith, we have collectively managed to raise a total of pounds 150,000 so far - a huge tribute to the efforts of all those taking part.

"As a parent who has experienced the loss of a much-loved daughter, I know this donation will make a huge difference to families trying to cope with the care of or loss of a terminally ill child.

"We are really pleased to support this most worthy of causes.. Contact Ty Gobaith fundraising office on 01492 596581 or e-mail fundraising@tygobaith. For more information visit the website: www.tygobaith.
