Turkey's EU minister calls for end to accession "blockages".

! Istanbul, Dhu-AlHijjah 26, 1434, Oct 31, 2013, SPA -- The European Union should remove unreasonable political blockages" that are hindering Turkey's accession to the bloc, the country's EU affairs minister, Egemen Bagis, said Thursday, according to dpa.

Bagis wrote in an editorial for the Hurriyet Daily News that while he welcomed the fresh talks, he "cannot understand the blockages Turkey suffers in the negotiation process." "The [European Commission] itself admits that the blockage of the negotiations is not the outcome of Turkey's technical shortcomings but of the political attitudes adopted by some member states," he said.

"In political history, no other country has waited so long for membership to an international organization," Bagis wrote.
