US-based Linux software company TurboLinux Inc has released its new operating system (OS) for Compaq Computer Corp's Alpha systems.

TheTurboLinux OS for Alpha is a 64-bit Linux OS designed for compute-intensive tasks. According to TurboLinux the new product is significantly faster than competing 32-bit operating systems. Other features include easy installation and support for all major Alpha BIOS and very large files.

The operating system is available for USD49.95.
