TUNIS, (TAP) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Mongi Hamdi received, Thursday in Tunis, Board Chairman of the Tunisian-American Enterprise Fund (TAEF) Bowman Cutter.

The Fund, whose budget reached 60 million dinars, has set up operations in Tunisia after having completed necessary legal procedures, Cutter said.

It has already begun examining applications for funding, presented by young Tunisian entrepreneurs before providing assistance to them soon, he noted.

Cutter said, in this context, that members of the Fund are aware of the economic challenges facing Tunisia, particularly regional disparities and job creation, adding that the Fund will focus its activities on inland regions.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the different U.S. initiatives for Tunisia after the revolution, particularly the Tunisian-American Enterprise Fund, initiated by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and some influential US senators.

Hamdi expressed the hope to see the fund begin its activities as soon as possible to boost the network of SMEs in Tunisia and help create jobs for young people.

The meeting was attended by the Executive Director and Executive Member of the Tunisian-American Enterprise Fund, Hela Fourati and Ann Wyman, respectively.
