Tunisian terror suspect works for Scotland Yard as adviser!
London, Dec15 (ANI): A man wanted by Interpol for terror offences is an adviser for Scotland Yard on Muslim extremism, it was reported.
Tunisian born Mohamed Ali Harrath had been advising the Metropolitan Police, the UK's biggest force, on countering Islamic extremism, The Times reported.
Harrath, 45, is listed as wanted on the Interpol website, the world's largest international police organization, and is accused of crimes involving the use of weapons, explosives and terrorism as well as forgery.
The Metropolitan Police refused to comment on the story on Sunday night.
Harrath is said to have been appointed by Scotland Yard as an adviser to its Muslim Contact Unit on preventing terrorism.
Harrath is reportedly the chief executive of the broadcaster the Islam Channel, based in London. In his homeland he founded the Tunisia Islamic Front.
Tunisia has accused Harrath of seeking help from al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden and says the Front wants to establish "an Islamic state by means of armed revolutionary violence".
He was convicted in his absence in Tunisia and sentenced to 56 years in jail. (ANI)
