Tunisian civil society participates in Istanbul World Family Summit.

TUNIS, Dec. 7, 2009 (TAP)- During the closing ceremony of the World Family Summit held on December 4-7 in Istanbul, Turkey, Mrs. Saida Agrebi, Chairwoman of the Tunisian Mothers Organisation (OTM) and Deputy Chairwoman of the World Family Organisation (WFO) highlighted the purport of the 2009-2014 presidential programme which translates a political will to achieve family cohesion, improve the socio-economic level of the family and enhance participation of women in public life.

She pointed to the importance of the year 2010 for women, youth and family all the more so that it will be marked by the holding of the World Family Summit, Beijing+15, reminding of Tunisia's leading experience in strengthening human rights.

During the session devoted to social society, OTM activists gave an outline of the social policy and the human rights system in Tunisia.

They also expressed the pride they take in the presidency of the Arab Women Organisation by Mrs. Leila Ben Ali and her initiatives to promote women's conditions and enhance their participation in development action.

Members of the Tunisian delegation also contributed to drafting the final communiquE[umlaut] of the Summit.
