Tunis to host World Innovation Summit late 2011.

TUNIS, March 24, 2011 (TAP) - A World Innovation, Science and Technology Summit will be held late 2011 in Tunisia, said Mr. Mohamed Frikha, Director General of Telnet, on the occasion of the visit that French Minister of Economy, Finance and Digital Industry Eric Besson paid on Thursday to the company's premises.

The event is a "citizen initiative" launched by Telnet and it will be organised in association with Tunisian skills, large international companies and Tunisian and foreign researchers and scientists, Mr. Frikha told TAP.

The summit aims to promote "solutions for new democracies in Africa and the Middle East and lay down the foundations of a digital and high-tech economy," he also said.

The event, which also aims to create a world science and technology organisation in Tunis, will allow, according to Mr. Frikha, to discuss themes related to scientific research on the global scale and the problem of unemployment, particularly of young executives and graduates.

Mr. Besson expressed consideration for the Tunisian skills in the field of information and communication technologies, saying that the latter are "future tools and means to develop the economy through the digital technology."

Telnet, an engineering, innovation and high-technology consulting company, is perceived today as a success model in technology transfer.
