Tune-up tips for Marlin owners.

* When the much-anticipated hunting season finally rolls around, it's not the time to discover that last year's trusty game-getter now lets you down because of dirty, worn or even broken parts. A pre-season check-up is a must for any firearm, and for those shooters fortunate enough to own Marlin rifles or shotguns, any necessary cleaning and repairing can be expertly accomplished this year with practically no effort at all on your part.

All you need to do is contact Marlin Firearms Company before August 31, 1985, to request a "tune-up" for any current Marlin-manufactured rifles and shotguns, or even their discontinued guns and those under private labels for which replacement parts are still available. For a mre $12 to $15, depending on the model, Marlin's experts will thoroughly clean the action and inspect and test the guns for proper functioning and shooting condition. Minor component parts such as springs, screws, firing pins and extractors that are found to be worn or broken will be replaced at no additional charge.

Should your favorite Marlin hunting arm require major repairs or restoration, such as reblueing, stock refinishing or stock replacement, you will receive a cost quotation before any work begins.

But before you pack up your firearm and ship it off to Marlin, send them a letter that includes your specific model and its serial number so they can determine whether or not it qualifies for the program. If it does, they will then send you a return authorization and cost quotation.

Remember, this is a pre-season service only and will not be available after August 31st. Be as prepared as you can be for an enjoyable and successful hunting season by writing now to: Marlin Gun Service Division, ATTN: Tune-Up Program, 100 Kenna Dr., Dept. GA, North Haven, CT 06473.
