Recipe Contest Winners
Wow! We had a hard time choosing winners from all the fantastic recipes we received for our "Healthful Recipe Contest!"
First place went to Glenn Lattiere, 11, of Detroit, Michigan. Glenn won a $2,000 scholarship to Hope College for his terrific fish recipe, "Gone Fishin.'"
Second place went to Dustin Hoffman, 5, of Oakhurst, California. Dustin won West Bend's 22-piece Lifetime Cookware set for "Dustin's Delightful Disaster Sandwich."
3/4 cup lowfat sour cream 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese 1 tablespoon chive 1/4 cup bread crumbs 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 pounds cod Dash of paprika Dash of pepper
1. Preheat oven to 425 [degrees] F.
2. Mix the sour cream, Parmesan cheese, chives, bread crumbs, and salt in a small bowl.
3. Place the cod in a baking dish and pour the sauce over it. Sprinkle paprika and pepper over the top and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. (The fish is done when it flakes easily with a fork.)
Dustin's Delightful Disaster Sandwich
2 slices of bread Lowfat mayonnaise Lowfat peanut butter 1 or 2 slices lowfat American cheese Sweet pickles, sliced Alfalfa sprouts
1. Spread mayonnaise on one slice of bread. Add the cheese.
2. Spread peanut butter on the other slice of bread. Add the sweet pickles and the alfalfa sprouts.
3. Place the two halves together. Cut in half and serve. Mmm--good!

Mark your calendars! The 1999 Tulip Time Scholarship Games will be held on April 24. There will be footraces; golf, tennis, soccer, and basketball competitions; a Scholarship Spelling Bee; a "Healthful Recipe Contest"; a "Super Science Contest"; a brand-new math event; tree and flower identification events; parent and grandparent events; and more!
