Tulip Time countdown!

There is still time to send in your registration form. (see page 32) for the 1998 Tulip Time Scholarship Games! Join us for a weekend of fun and a chance to win college scholarships!

Even you can't come to the Scholarship Games, you can still enter our "Healthful Recipe Contest" and our "Tulip Time Picture Contest."

Registration begins at 10:30 A.M. Events start at 11:00 A.M.

What: Golf Competitions

* Straightest Drive

* Closest Chip to the Pin

Where: Fitness Farm

Events begin at 12:30 P.M.

Healthful Recipes Wanted

Hurry, kids! There's still time to enter our "Healthful Recipe Contest." The winner of the first prize, a $1,000 scholarship, will be announced at the Fitness Farm on April 25. The winner of the runner-up prize, West Bend's 22-piece Lifetime Cookware set, will also be announced.

Here are the rules:

* Send your mom or dad's original recipe only (not one taken from a book).

* Recipes must be low in fat, sugar, and salt.

* No artificial sweeteners and no dessert recipes.

* Include your name, address, age, phone number, parent's signature, and school photo.

* All entries become the property of the Children's Better Health Institute and cannot be returned.

* Entries must be received by April 1.

Cool Colossal Cottage Cheese

Here's one of the yummy recipes we've received so far. This recipe was sent in by Cody Zessin, age 7, from Lincoln, Nebraska. We give this recipe a thumbs up!
24-ounce carton lowfat cottage cheese (small curd)
1 tomato, diced
1 cucumber, cut in small cubes
1 onion slice, finely diced
Salt and pepper to taste

Combine all of the ingredients in a medium-sized bowl. Cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour. Serve and enjoy! Take a Picture!

Hurry and send us your best sports action photo or drawing, and you could be the winner of our "Tulip Time Picture Contest" and receive a brand-new camera!

Here are the rules:

* It must be your own work.

* Photos and drawings must show action--like someone hitting a baseball or running the bases. No posed pictures, please.

* Include your name, address, age, phone number, parent's signature, and school photo.

* All entries become the property of the Children's Better Health Institute and cannot be returned.

* Entries must be received by April 1. If you are attending the Scholarship Games, you may bring your entry with you.

Flower Fun

Get ready for our flower identification event by learning to identify and spell the names of these nine flowers. You might win a college scholarship!

Take the Challenge!

Kids can test their physical strength and ability at the President's Challenge booth. Each child will be scored in the following events:

1. Curl-Ups: This exercise measures abdominal strength.

2. Shuttle Run: This event measures speed and endurance.

3. One-Mile Run/Walk (6- to 7-year-olds--1/4 mile; 8- to 9-year-olds--1/2 mile): This event measures heart and lung endurance.

4. Pull-Ups: This exercise measures upper-body strength.

5. V-Sit Reach: This exercise measures flexibility of lower back and hamstrings.
