Tube knife man gets life term NINA MASSEY email@example.com A CRAZED knifeman who tried to behead a musician during an Isis-inspired rampage at a London Tube station was yesterday sentenced to life in prison.
Muhiddin Mire, 30, targeted strangers in the ticket hall at Leytonstone station in the east end of the city last December. He grabbed passenger Lyle Zimmerman and attempted to murder the 56-year-old.
Somalian Mire will serve a minimum of eight-and-ahalf years before being eligible for parole and will begin his sentence at Broadmoor secure hospital.
The incident was caught on CCTV and mobile phone footage taken by a passer-by, who kept filming as Mire lunged at him with a blade.
One onlooker shouted at Mire: "You ain't no Muslim, bruv", after he declared he was going to "spill blood" for his "Syrian brothers".
Sentencing him at the Old Bailey, Judge Nicholas Hilliard said Mire's "brazen" actions were carried out to advance a "religious and extremist cause".
He added: "This was an attempt to kill an innocent member of the public for ideological reasons by cutting his throat in plain sight for maximum impact."
