Trust rings in the changes.

ST HELENS and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is using a new telephone service to remind patients to attend for their hospital appointments.

The recent introduction of the new service has reduced the number of patients who miss their appointments.

The new service contacts patients by telephone between 5pm and 8pm to remind them about their appointment.

Ann Marr, chief executive, said: "This new service is a great step forward.

"This means at lot less patients are missing their hospital appointments."
