Truckers form guard for Declan.

LORRY drivers lined their rigs along the side of a road to honour fellow driver Declan Harvey, 43, who was killed after a crash on Melmount Road near Strabane, Co Tyrone, on Wednesday.

Family, friends and drivers descended on St Mary's Church at Melmount in Strabane yesterday for the funeral of the father-offive.

His devastated dad Eddie had the heartbreaking task of burying the last of his four children.

Mr Harvey Senior described his son, a well-known lorry driver especially on Spanish routes, as: "A true gentleman," and "everybody's friend".

Earlier in the week Mr Harvey senior, from Baronscourt, said all his immediate family were now dead. He said: "My first boy died in 1966 with cancer, then my daughter died in 1978 with cystic fibrosis.

"Then my other daughter died at 44 of cancer, just eight years ago - she was married with two of a family. Her first baby died at six months old in some sort of mixup."

He added: "My wife died in 1981 and I had a partner for 15 years - she died seven years ago and now my son, my last son."
