Trotter, Bancroft reach new heights.

WORCESTER - Helped by senior tri-captain Gabrielle Trotter, of Boylston, Bancroft School's varsity girls volleyball team recently captured its 11th straight Eastern Independent League (EIL) championship with a victory over Governor's Academy.

With the victory, the team upped its amazing win streak to 145 consecutive matches, setting another state high school record. During their streak, the Bulldogs have a game record of 435-9.

Trotter, who won EIL Player of the Year in Volleyball for the third year in a row, has been playing volleyball at Bancroft since the sixth grade. She attributes her team's record-setting winning streak to a dedicated coach (Gary Patch), who teaches fundamental skills and a love for the game.

"In my opinion, she's the most dominant player at outside hitter in New England," Patch said of Trotter. "She's just a phenomenal player."

Trotter also plays for the top-ranked junior Olympic volleyball team in New England. She plans to attend Division 1 University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
