Triple win for Berghaus in international awards.
THREE product developments by North East outdoor company Berghaus have won international awards.
The Sunderland-based firm, which employs around 180 people, triumphed in two categories of the 2014 OutDoor Industry Awards, taking prizes in the performance clothing award for its Hyper Smock 2.0 waterproof and HyperTherm Race Smock, while a new collection of shirts and legwear called ECO Wovens was recognised for its high ecological and sustainable credentials. The design team behind the Hyper Smock 2.0 was also presented with a coveted gold award - the highest level of award. The OutDoor Industry Awards, deemed the most sought after accolades in the outdoor sector, attracted a record 361 entries from companies around the world.
Berghaus submitted three entries and, following judging by six international experts, all of the products were successful - something that no other company achieved. David Heath, vice president of product and marketing, said: "These awards are testament to the hard work of everyone in the North East who contributed to the products during their development. We are all incredibly proud that Berghaus has been recognised in this way."
