Trio make their mark in the UK Schools Games.

THREE of Teesside's top young track and field stars battled against some of the best athletes in Britain during the UK School Games at Manchester's Sport City Stadium last weekend.

Amy Carr, Aaron Jeal and Harry Allan represented the North of England at the largest school age multi-sport competition to be held annually in the UK; a competition where they faced the best the rest of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland had to offer.

And the trio more than held their own as they competed to high-placed finishes in their events.

St Bede's Sixth Form student Amy rounded off a fine season with silver in the T37 Ambulant long jump, while Aaron of Nunthorpe Sixth Form and Macmillan Academy Sixth Form's Harry fell just short of the medal positions in the men's hammer and 1,500m steeplechase, respectively.

Aaron came close to his best with a thorw of 58.41m for fourth place in the hammer and Harry ran the race of his life to take three seconds off his personal best and finish fourth in the steeplechase in 4min 37.26secs.
