Trio hit top form to share glory; EVENTING.

Byline: By Kate Healey

NORTON LINDSEY'S Iola Hopkinson made a great start to her Three-Day event career at the Weston Park International Horse Trials, the last major date in the Eventing calendar.

The Rugby School student was representing the Central team in the Junior Regional Novice championships at Weston, for riders aged 18 or under, and did them proud.

She finished in fine eighth place, from a big field that included some Junior International riders, with her 15.3hh skewbald horse Just Jimmy II. The Warwickshire Pony Club member was the Central's second-highest placed rider and helped the team into fourth spot overall.

Stretton-on-Dunsmore's Sarah Stretton (20) was also very happy with her outing. She finished second in the CCI, the first step into eventing, on the 16.3hh Selle Francais eight-year-old Lazy Acres Firestorm.

Coventry-based Carly Reid was among the winners at the second British Eventing one-day event to be staged at Broadway in Worcestershire this season.

The 24-year-old headed a Novice section by just a tenth of a mark, seeing off a very strong challenge from Junior European double gold medallist Laura Collett.
