TELECOMWORLDWIRE-October 21, 2011-Trimble releases new version of Field Link software with Dynamic Joystick feature(C)1994-2011 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

Positioning solutions provider Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) has released a new version of Trimble Field Link, its tablet-based field software suite for the Mechanical, Engineering and Plumbing (MEP) and Structures trades, the company revealed today.

The new version of the software, which is designed to simplify routine construction layout tasks while increasing overall productivity and accuracy, includes a drag and point feature known as "Dynamic Joystick". This allows the user to simply drag their finger or stylus around the tablet screen to control the Trimble Robotic Total Station in fluid, real-time movement.

According to Trimble the new feature enables contractors to more finitely control the total station, easily stopping the laser pointer on a desired point location. In conjunction with the laser pointer, Dynamic Joystick allows the user to step away from behind the total station scope and control the instrument, Trimble said.

Trimble Field Link 1.1 is available now. Pricing details were not announced.
