Tricks of the trade: handy slap-in-a-dash tricks.
We've all made-up in the back of a cab, but to win the work-to- party race, you need all the time-saving tricks you can muster...
l If your workplace is anything like ours, don't even try to get in the loos after 5pm on the day of the office shindig.
l Hail a modern-style black cab, the ones with lighted mirrors in the back.
l Apply eye make-up at the lights, to avoid red eyes from stabbing yourself with your kohl.
l Jazz up your day-time French manicure by repainting the tips of your nails and dipping them into a little pot of glitter, says Thea Callan, founder of Nails Inc (020-7499 8333).
l You don't need a mirror to dress up your matte lippie with a slick of clear gloss on top.
l `Take a powder brush with you and swish on some powder all over your face and bod instead of a liquid or cream,' advises Lisa Eldridge. `It's not as dense, and is easier to disperse across the skin. It'll catch the light on the tops of your shoulders, collarbones and decollete without staining your clothes.'
l Judy Nacre, MD of self-tan brand, St Tropez (0115-922 1462), is another powder addict. `I love Ariane Poole's new Under Eye & Face Brightener, pounds 14 (0845-601 8360). It can be used all over the face to add luminosity.'
