Tribute to 'loving and caring' father; The World Today.

THE widow of police chief Michael Todd paid tribute yesterday to a "loving and caring father and husband"

Carolyn Todd said the family were "struggling to come to terms" with his apparent suicide, on the day an inquest confirmed he had been drinking before he was found dead on Mount Snowdon on Tuesday.

She said: "I loved Michael very much and the last time I spoke to him he told me he loved me too. We have been married for 27 years and eight months."

The Manchester Evening News reported that Mr Todd, 50, had an affair with businesswoman Angie Robinson, the chief executive of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce which lasted three years.

An inquest into Mr Todd's death, held at Anglesey Council Chamber, heard that the Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable was over the legal drink-drive limit when he died.

He had 105 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his system. The legal limit is 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres.
