Trial set for rape charge policeman.

A POLICEMAN charged with raping a woman while he was on duty will face trial in Preston.

PC James Ruddock, 36, of Dapple Heath Avenue, Maghull, appeared at Liverpool crown court today, where a judge decided the trial's venue.

The police officer is charged with twice raping a woman in her own home after giving her a lift on June 22.

Ruddock, who was based at St Helens police station and has served with Merseyside police for 10 years, is expected to enter a plea to the charge on December 5 at Preston crown court.

His trial was fixed to start on February 13
