(TAP) - The 5th Criminal Division at the Tunis Court of First Instance specialising in terrorism cases has decided to defer the case of Mohamed Brahmi until February 19, 2019, spokesperson for the Tunis Court of First Instance said on Tuesday.
The postponement of the case is decided at the request of the civil party that is calling to include the conclusions of the other disjoined cases and the minutes of the investigation in the file of the assassination of Brahmi, Selliti told TAP.
Deputy Mohammed Brahmi was shot dead in front of his home on July 25, 2013, a few months after the assassination of Chokri Belaid, secretary-general of the Democratic Patriots' Unified Party.
During Tuesday's hearing, the defense team filed pre-trial motions concerning "the secret organisation of Ennahdha" and the case of Mustapha Khedher and demanded access to the files of the Interior Ministry.
The defence team also asks to wait for the outcome of the case of Meherzia Saad who was killed during the arrest of her husband in Douar Hichir (governorate of Manouba) for suspected belonging to a terrorist cell in 2012.
At Tuesday's hearing, the defence team also asked to include in the case the case of Mustapha Khedher which was decided by the Court of Cassation on July 5, 2018.
The defence believes that some elements in the case can be used in the case of Mohamed Brahmi's murder.
Another petition was filed with the court demanding that the Interior Ministry allow access to documents seized on December 19, 2013 during the arrest of Mustapha Khedher that were not handed over to the court.
The defence also asks to await the outcome of the case brought by the civil party before the Court of Cassation in the case of Brahmi against security officer Abdelkrim Labidi.
