EVERY year the town of Limassol hosts its famous wine festival attracting over 100,000 visitors eager to sample local wines and dishes.

This year it is taking place between August 31 - September 11 and will be held in Limassol's Municipal Gardens on the east side of the town by the sea.

The island of Cyprus has been producing wine for over 6,000 years, so the Limassol Wine Festival is an annual celebration of the island's rich viticulture and a revival of ancient festive traditions.

Upon arrival at the festival, visitors are welcomed by a giant statue of a famous Cypriot wine grower and can then take advantage of the many stalls offering various wines and local delicacies all free of charge!

The evening is filled with live music, theatrical plays, dance shows and with free wine flowing everyone is guaranteed a good time. The highlight of the evening is often the pressing of the grapes which signifies the start of the festival. Visitors can't wait to get stuck in and participate in the first stages of wine making!
