Transporters call for removal of encroachments at city roads.
KARACHI -- Karachi Transport Action Committee (KTAC) has called for removal of encroachments especially at the busy and congested roads to ensure the traffic flow in the city.
In a statement here on Sunday, President KTAC, Muhammad Ashraf Banglori expressed his serious concern over the increasing encroachments in the city including on the main roads causing traffic congestions and repeated frequent jams.
This badly disrupts the commercial activities and routine life in the city, he said.
Banglori maintained that after hue and cry from the public, the encroachments are removed from certain points/sites. But, within next few days, these re-emerged in more organised way with invisible powerful hands behind.
He requested Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui to order immediate removal of the encroachments from the roads of the city for smooth flow of traffic.
KTAC's Chief pointed out that there were mushroom-like encroachments mainly 'patharas' especially at the main markets of the city. And, he alleged, the shopkeepers and the area police were patronising them for their financial interests.
