Transforming Into a World Class Liveable City.
The exponential growth in urban areas, combines with escalating cost of developing transportation solutions, means that transit projects cannot progress from planning to implementation fast enough. Large cities like Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Mumbai, Singapore, as highly productive entities and therefore the fundamental structures of global and regional spatial accumulation has thus represent strong incentives to be bonded by an efficient transportation network.
The main challenges facing mass transportation policymakers are the dispersal of development through suburban growth and increases in capital and operating costs, which require either higher fares, greater subsidies, or both. Responses to these challenges include alternative service concepts, technology, systems and automation, more efficient service delivery, and alternative sources of funding.
This Urban Transportation Planning & Integration Forum will bring together the strong link between transportation planning and urban growth. It aims to create platform for government officials, public transport providers, traffic control departments and various other organisations and ministries get together to discuss and pave the way for improvement in the public transport arena within our society.
