Tranmere legend Muir to attend final Trust fund-raising event.

TRANMERE legend Ian Muir will be guest of honour as the Tranmere Rovers Trust holds its final fund-raising event at Prenton Park.

Rovers' record goalscorer, who netted 180 goals in ten years at the club, will speak to supporters as the Trust finalises its campaign to raise an initial pounds 300,000, which will go towards a potential takeover of the club.

Trust chairman Ben Harrison said: "Ian Muir is a legend in the eyes of all Tranmere supporters.

"We are delighted that he has agreed to support our campaign and hope that supporters will take the opportunity to come along to the event and meet one of the all-time Rovers greats" "The campaign to raise funds towards the potential purchase of (Rovers chairman) Peter Johnson's shares is reaching its finale and we need as many supporters as possible to pledge their support over the next few days."

"We are hoping for a surge of pledges close to the deadline in the same way as most people buying season tickets tend to wait until the last few days of the best offer. We hope that this event will encourage supporters to get down to Prenton Park and sign up on the night."

The Trust recently announced its 'Gold Option', which enables supporters to make six monthly payments of pounds 52, rather than committing to a lump pounds 300 sum.

"We understand that money is tight in the current economic climate and that fans may not be able to find pounds 300 up front," added Harrison. "We hope that this new payment plan will encourage those with less disposable income to take up the Gold option."
