Train takes 18hr strain; DETOUR.

A ONE hour rail journey is being turned into an 18-hour marathon - which involves an overnight stay.

Due to bank holiday engineering works, East Midlands trains is offering an alternative route from Kettering to London which leaves at 1.35pm on May 23, arriving at 8am the next day.

A detour involves seven changes, five buses, spending the night in Milton Keynes, and going 295 miles not 60.

Fortunately the firm also plans an alternative three hour route... but tickets are not yet available..
