Tragic mix led to death.

A man died after taking drugs and alcohol, a Teesside inquest heard.

Robin Stuart Underhill, 32, was found dead at a flat in Eastbourne Road, Grove Hill, Middlesbrough, on March 7 last year.

His mother Lynn Underhill, 58, told Teesside Coroner's Court her son had a serious motorbike accident in 1991 and had not been able to work since.

He had also suffered bouts of depression and was taking anti-depressants and diazepam at the time of his death.

Home Office pathologist Dr Nigel Cooper said cause of death was inhalation of vomit as a consequence of the effects of morphine and alcohol.

Dr Cooper said morphine, diazepam, cannabis and alcohol were found in Mr Underhill's bloodstream.

Det Sgt Colin Allen, of Cleveland Police, said police had investigated the flat and interviewed three men who occupied the flat but concluded there were no suspicious circumstances. Mrs Underhill told the inquest her son did not mix much socially and they had only moved back to the area six months prior to his death.

Assistant Deputy Coroner Anthony Eastwood recorded a verdict of misadventure.
