Trading Post: Crewe's steady decline to continue; sports play of the day.

Byline: Dan Childs

Lay Crewe (v Stoke) CREWE are worth laying at 2.2 to win today's Championship fixture with Stoke at Gresty Road, kick-off 3pm, writes Dan Childs. The Railwaymen are desperate for the points to stave off the threat of relegation, while the visitors have nothing tangible to play for.

Punters have latched on to Crewe because their need is greater, but that looks like false logic.

Crewe's form has been dreadful since the sale of Dean Ashton to Norwichduring the January transfer window. Since his departure Crewe have not won in 17 games, a run which has taken them from the top half of the table to within one point of the bottom three.

And, given an opportunity to take on mid-table opposition at Millwall a fortnight ago, they failed, losing 4-3 at the New Den.

Injuries are also blighting the cause of Dario Gradi's team - strikers Steve Jones and Luke Varney are both major doubts for this afternoon's clash.

Stoke have struggled recently, but the spirited effort they displayed during Tuesday's 1-0 loss to West Ham suggests they have not yet embarked on their summer holidays.
