Traders protest over `noisy bagpipes' busker.

A SHOPPING centre busker has been told to pipe down - because his wailing bagpipes are getting on people's nerves.

Street entertainer Gert Genisser has been playing his Scottish bagpipes to amuse shoppers in Llanelli.

But market traders in the town say they can't carry out their business because of Gert's non-stop screeching.

While the wailing might be acceptable in Edinburgh, it clearly does not get approval in downtown Llanelli.

Brian Fowler, the market manager, said, ``Traders are struggling to communicate with the public because of the noise.

``I asked the bagpipe player to stand outside an empty building but he refused to do so.

``I didn't want a confrontation and decided to let it go.''

Gert, originally from Stuttgart, Germany, said he is tired of being constantly asked to move.

He said, ``I am not annoying people and most folks appreciate the music.

``I make my living from playing the bagpipes and it gives me a bad feeling when people ask me to move.

``The philosophy of busking is to share music and I just want to make people happy.''
